[Bookplate for James R. Adams] A pictorial bookplate depicting two owls perched on a disordered pile of open and closed books in black ink on ivory paper (with glue on back). "EX-LIBRIS" is part of the image ; however, the name has been added using a commercial rubber stamp within a space deliberately left within a banner. 22. [Bookplate for K. H. Ingalls by Ralph Fletcher Seymour] A portrait bookplate with a multiple black fillet border surrounding the central images used in the bookplate. The bookplate has all 12 images of the zodiac held in small circles surrounding the periphery of the central image. At the top and bottom left and right hand corners of the image are images of vines. Central to the bookplate is the image of a wicker chair held in the bottom left hand corner next to several books sitting on a reading table. The chair is facing a brick fireplace against the far wall above which are the word "BIDE-A-WHILE". In front of the fireplace is a bear skin rug. A highbacked wooden bench with three books on it sits off on the adjacent wall to the left of the image. A similar bench sits to the right of the fireplace. A clock and several other knickknacks sit on the mantelpiece above the fireplace. 23. [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] A ragged edge of a central image is covered in a grey coloured wash. A Japanese woman is reclining on her knees and is using a black Japanese Fan. The woman is wearing a flowered kimono and is facing to the right. 24. The woman is facing to the left and her right hand, in the lower left of the picture, holds a hat. 26. [Bookplate for University of British Columbia] A set of pictures cut out in the image of a banjo with people playing banjos and singing. The images are in colour and one image of an older man with a pink shirt, suspenders, and a hat sits to the right of the Banjo. 27. [Bookplate for Jessie Hunter] A single black fillet surrounds the central image on the bookplate. Two banners sit above and below the central image of a large open book overlays a lighted oil lamp with two wicks on curved arms curling outwards from the central hub of the lamp. The lamp is sitting on the outline of a table. The images may imply that books bring awareness of the unknown. 28. [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] A tall gailly blue, beige, and red stripped ceremonial pole is the central image. There is a small blue and orange bag mounted a third of the way from the bottom of the pole, a black and orange ribboned head-dress to the pole and a green and yellow arc is at the bottom of the pole. The pole leans from the upper left towards the lower right position. 29. [Bookplate for David L. G. Dryden] A yellow frame surrounds the central image. The central image is of a young man in medieval armour leading a white horse to the left of the image. The image is in a forest setting with several trees observable. Two notable trees are standing, one on the left, and one on the right side of the man providing a frame for the image. The entire scene is evocative of a Pre-Raphaelite painting. 30. [Bookplate for Emil Eerme and A. Lavdovsky by A. Lee] Abstract brown image on an agua-green background. Image includes a musical instrument (possibly a double bass), a human figure, a book, and a picture frame. 31. [Bookplate for Robert Smart] An armorial bookplate printed in black ink on white paper. A bird displayed, wings inverted, couped with thistle in beak, with a crest wreath, argent and vert (silver and green). Beneath that is a shield, party per pale, erminois and argent. The dexter side, erminois, per chevron azure (blue) with three chess rooks, gules (red). The dexter side, argent, per fess, gules, with two diamonds, sable (black). 32. [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] An image of a Japanese festival paper lantern is shown. The three (Hirigana/Katakana) symbols written on the lantern are pronounced, "Se-ro-hi". The lantern has a black top and bottom rim with a carrying handle at the top. An orange tassel emerges from the bottom of the lantern. The lantern is sitting at the center of the page. The symbols start at the lower left of the lantern and move towards the upper right. 33. The image is of a classical figure from Japanese mythology. The myth is of a hermit who goes to a cave and does not move for many years causing his limbs to whither until only a head remains. A grey border outlines the figure and the text. The face is facing towards the right. 35. [Bookplate for University of British Columbia] An image of the Main Library of UBC and the Clock tower in front of it. The image appears to be the result of work with a photographic negative. The image is presented in black and white. 36. [Bookplate for Klara Weiss and J. E. Horvath] Black and dark pink ink on tan paper. On the bottom left corner of the image there is an open book with pink flowers that continue in to ocean waves receding in the background. 37. [Bookplate for Alton Goldbloom] Black and gold ink on cream paper. Art deco stylized capitalized font printed a top an image of a baby emerging from the torso up out of a gold, three-petal flower. Black stripes of alternating thick and thin width appear behind the baby. The vertical stem of the flower has a gold centre and two leaves, one on each side of the stem, that are half black and half gold. The stem expands in width at the base and capitalized font is written in the non-printed space at the black base. Black ink capitalized font is written below. 38. [Bookplate for Dorothy C. Heney by Clifford H. Brown] Black ink on buff paper. The image depicts a young girl holding hands with a book, and both pushing open the gates of Fairy Land, toward a castle in the background.
